Today, I head off with Levi on a road trip to Northern Ontario, no, I’m not talking an hour north of Toronto, I am talking Sault Ste Marie area.
We will be making a stop in Toronto on the way, which is actually a bit out of the way, but this is my only chance to see some friends that are coming over from Oz to do some travel through Canada & the USA, so I’m prepared to make the detour. The drive to Toronto should take about 4.5hrs, but I’m sure to hit traffic, especially as I will be headed into the city centre, so a 6hr drive there is probably not out of the question. I am really not all that excited, but sometimes you just have to suck it up.
All going well, I will have a few hours to catch up with them & allow them to meet Levi, before we drive out of the city & head north towards Sault Ste Marie. If not, we will spend a night in the city & head off the next morning.
My Aunt Jackie, is having a 50th birthday celebration in Sault Ste Marie, which is why I am headed up there. The party starts at 3pm Saturday. Logistically though, we won’t make it in time, I just can’t see how that can happen in a safe manner, when the estimated travel time to get there is 14 hrs via Toronto. We won’t start our journey until Levi has finished his last swim lesson at 12pm, it seems to take about 1/2 an hour to get ourselves sorted & then he will need a feed, as will I need some food, so we probably won’t get under-way until sometime after 1pm. Last Saturday I sent a message to my aunt telling her that we probably won’t make it on time & that if worst comes to worst I will catch up with her the next day at Jason’s 2nd birthday party. I certainly felt a lot better once I sent the message, a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders.
My aim is certainly to try to attempt to get to Sault Ste Marie on Saturday, but I’m not going to rush, better for Levi & better for me. I hope that the drive isn’t too arduous. Wish us luck 🙂
