Today was so much fun. At the last minute, we decided to take part in a rice wrap competition at Nakhon Thai in Kemptville. It was a fantastic family experience. We love our rice wraps. They're one of our go-to's when we travel or pack a lunch to bring somewhere. Perfect with all my allergies, too. We all picked up some great new skills & ideas for our wraps, so now there's no excuse for terrible wraps. 😂 Here are just a few tips we picked up; Combining mint & coriander in the same roll (I've always just picked one herb & never mixed them), Wrapping the veggies with one turn, then popping in some protein & finishing it off, How to stretch the rolls as you wrap them tightly, Using two sheets of rice paper, Adding some flavour to the rice noodles when you cook them.... We also made some delicious fruit rolls with thin slices of banana 🍌, cantaloupe (rockmelon), kiwi 🥝, strawberries 🍓 & raspberries. You can add some of your flavoured rice noodles too & mint. Then you drizzle some golden corn syrup over the top & sprinkle with some cinnamon sugar...... sooooo good. Love that we got to try deep-fried rice paper, which was really nice as well. One of us even won the competition, so now we get to have one Thai meal every day for a week (just have to pick the week). All of us are super keen to do a cooking class with Tan as well. Sometimes you just need reminders, you're old! Before the kids found their friends, we had promised we might go on a ride with them. They loved the Gravitron, and we've both been on it before when we were kids, infact it was a ride we both enjoyed in our younger years. So we figured why not. 🛸 This lovely picture was taken before the ride started. The music was quite loud, I guess the guy who runs it is having trouble hearing the music, which is why it's cranked so high... even the kids commented on it. As the ride picked up, I looked over to G, who was trying to focus on one spot.... oh no, he's looking not so great. The kids are moving between us & then I get slammed in the chest. The force of the ride feels like my chest is being crushed. A reminder of my bodies limitations. I try to look over, but it hurts my neck. Looking around, there are kids upside down, loving every moment. There's just 4 adults on the ride & we all seem focused on getting through the ride. G has closed his eyes. The ride slows & there's a sense of relief, which is quickly dashed, as it starts back up again....... lots of laughter. How long can this ride last? From our old adult perspective.... far too long. 🥴 😅 When the ride did finally finish, G disappeared as he went off to find a place to sit and try not to vomit. Props to him for not puking on the ride, too. I felt relief from the pressure immediately, as one would expect. Today, though, my body is understandably not happy. 😬 That was certainly an experience. Five friends..... There was much excitement tonight as the kids found some friends to hang with, which was awesome! I love socks. I have a nice collection of socks enough for just over a week if I get really lazy & don't wash them for a while. 😅 For the last few years I have been trying to be more aware of the socks I get. My favourites are the woollen ones that are handmade from extended family in Germany & these cotton beauties by @maggiesorganics because they're made of natural materials. This afternoon, I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find socks made of natural materials for the kids & failing. Most socks are plastic, 97% polyester with some spandex was more common than not. I found less than half a dozen with a small amount of cotton, but not enough to make me consider buying them. A busy but successful day. Managed to get an art piece in for the youngest for the fair, which she was super stoked about & we dropped it off. Pictures of that piece to come. We even caught up with someone I hadn't seen in a while, too, which was lovely. Work was relatively busy & day two of being back to the homeschooling schedule went ok (even around work). Still worried about not having the access we have currently to our personal library & of course, the public libraries that we like to frequent for a time. But we will have internet access & ereaders, which does afford us the ability to require less space (which is a really good thing), I just like physical books. 🙃 An eggplant based pasta sauce, to finish the day was lovely. It's a good boat meal too, so here's hoping the kids don't get sick of it too quickly 😅 #busy #fair #twoemuadventures #homeschooling #books

Here is our start of the school year pic, where one continues with primary & the other is in junior high. We took some time off in the summer, which I'm grateful for. There's been a bit to sort this year, including how to organise another year of schooling. In about a month, G will be helping out more, too, so in theory, it should help to balance out the kids' homeschooling between us - which I am incredibly grateful for given our current plans. #homeschoollife #homeschool #worldschooling #twoemuadventures
